To be quickly warned of any fire breaking out, Oldham has designed the "SharpEye": a range of flame detectors adapted to any type of fire. Designed specially for incendiary flame detection, the SharpEye detectors analyse the radiation in the UV and IR spectrum. Consequently, they assure exceptional quality and reliability of analysis.
Experience proves that the efficiency of a protective system depends, not only on the situation, but also on the nature of the flame detectors. In this field, there are not ready-made solutions. Our engineers will study your plant carefully and propose solutions that meet your requirements: UV, IR, UV/IR, IR3, or a combination of the three.
Large scope of applications

Optimised Equipment
UV Detector
Consists of a solid state sensor sensitive to UV rays between 0.185 and 0.245um.
Generates an output signal proportional to the radiation compared to a meticulously calculated reference.
IR Detector
Consists of a sensor sensitive to IR rays (0.185 - 0.260um) from the CO2 gas generated by a combustion.
Generates an output signal proportional to the radiation compared to a meticulously calculated reference.
UV/IR Detector
Consists of a UV sensor (0.185-0.260um) combined with an IR sensor (2.5-3um).
Generates an output signal proportional to the radiation compared to a meticulously calculated reference.
Requires a simultaneous response by both sensitive components.
IR3 Detector
Three pyroelectric sensors detect IR rays corresponding to different emission peaks:
CO2 (4.2-4.6um) produced by the combustion of carbon-containing substances.
High temperature sources (4.0 - 4.2um).
Revolving or modulated sources (4.8-5.2um)
The IR3 detector is not sensitive to solar radiation and does not react to IR rays emitted by the usual artificial sources.
There is no flame detector capable of effectively fulfilling all types of application.
Each case has to be examined individually in order to determine the sensor best suited to actual working conditions.

OPTICAL INTEGRITY
Operates on a continuous basis:
The optical surfaces
Detector sensitivity
Electrical circuits
This system is designed to ensure that the detector functions efficiently and also traces any fault instantaneously.
HIGH SENSITIVITY
15m for the UV/IR detectors
60m for the IR3 detector
Response time depends upon the fuel, the area of the fire and its position in relation to the centre line of the detector.
